CONCRETE FOUNDATIONS FOR METAL BUILDINGS

PSF CO. FOUNDATIONS FOR METAL BUILDINGS

We believe your foundation should last beyond a lifetime. Our concrete foundations are formed according to an engineered foundation plan.   Your metal or pre-fabricated building manufacturer will provide specifications and designs for the building.   Then a geotechnical or structural engineer will design the foundation based on structural requirements and soil conditions.

*Check Pikes Peak Regional Building Department website for exceptions.

Professional ENGINEERING

We work from an engineered foundation plan designed, drawn and stamped by a licensed engineer.  Soils have been tested and the resulting design accommodates structural requirements, types of soil, and water tables.

Attention to DETAIL

After the excavation is complete and Open Hole test has been performed, we can begin layout and forming for the foundation.  Our crew will verify measurements, check for building plumb and square as well as properly install rebar, and embed anchor bolts.

*Check Pikes Peak Regional Building Department website for exceptions.

TYPES OF METAL BUILDING FOUNDATIONS

Steel, or metal, buildings can be adapted and customized for an endless number of uses.  The foundation design can vary, but the constant in Colorado is frost depth (30” below grade or ground level).

As you talk with your building manufacturer you may want to contact our office for a preliminary estimate.  Another good source of information is a geotechnical or structural engineer.   In order to provide meaningful information, the engineer might require testing of soil samples from your build site.  Since foundation and floor slab costs are substantial, the amount invested in soil testing can be well worth it as a decision-making and budgeting tool.

The types of foundations for metal buildings are similar to foundations for traditional site-built structures.

• PAD FOOTINGS and grade beam (or wall, Stemwall)
• footing and wall with pilasters at columns
• MONOLITHIC SLAB (THICKENED EDGE)
• PIER SYSTEM

Note: PSF Co. does not install post-tension slabs or ICF foundations.
